The patch unlocks the Mac OS X operating system family in the new VM options on ESXi, and includes VMware Tools for macOS. Virtual machines with Mac OS X are not supported by default. The patch is needed to unlock Mac OS X in the list of available operating systems in the VM options during the creation of a VM. Patching ESXi to Customize the Host for Running MacOS If you are using VMware vSphere Web Client, go to Configure > System > Services, then right click SSH and click Start. You can also use an alternative method and enable SSH directly on the ESXi server by going to System Customization > Troubleshooting options > Enable SSH.
